is a highly decorated military strategist, historian, and international liaison officer with over three decades of distinguished service in the Lebanese Armed Forces. A graduate of the Lebanese Military Academy (1980s), he has completed elite military and strategic education programs in France (École de Cavalerie), the United States (National Security Institute at the University of Delaware, U.S. Army War College), and Italy. He holds a PhD in Modern History from the Lebanese University and a Diploma in Italian Literature, and is fluent in Arabic, English, French, Italian, and Spanish.
Throughout his career, Dr. Zahreddine has held a number of senior command, ceremonial, and educational positions. These include Chief of Military and Civilian Studies at the Lebanese Military Academy, Chief of Escort and Ceremonial Company at the Presidential Guard, and Chief of Protocol Directorate Branch at Army Headquarters. He also served as a key staff officer in the Presidential Palace Situation Room (1990–1993), and later played pivotal roles in international coordination as Commander of South Lebanon’s Sector West with UNIFIL and as Chief Liaison Officer with foreign forces during major post-conflict stabilization efforts.
He led Lebanon’s Army History Documentation Committee, and from 2010 served as Director of Education, Training, and Sports at the Lebanese Army, where he contributed significantly to bilateral military cooperation programs with countries such as France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Armenia, Turkey, Cyprus, and the United States. He represented Lebanon in high-level Pentagon staff talks (2014–2016) and presided over two Arab League conferences in Cairo.
His service has been recognized with eleven national medals and four international decorations, including Argentina’s Medal of Merit, France’s “La Défense Nationale – Echelon Or” and the “Ordre du Mérite,” and Italy’s “Medal of Honor.”
Today, Dr. Zahreddine remains an active figure in the academic and strategic fields as an Associate Researcher at the National Security Institute (NSI-USA), a member of the Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies (NESA-USA), and a researcher at the Lebanese Center for Migration and Diaspora Studies (LERC-NDU).
